There is something strangely irrevocable, not to say gooey, about words and expressions like: Mammal, jerk, baldhead, snotty brat, bampot, chiquita banana, loafer, cutie patootie, klepto, black hand, sourface, chink, guesthouse arm, moron, scandalmonger, wall-flower, bogeyman, grim reaper, glutton, cheeky devil, belly dancer, gut cleaner, backstroke swimmer, headhunter and pedestrian. Yes, there is something altogether strangely irrevocable about words and people. Without each other, they are like movables, phantom limbs and cirrhosis of the liver.
