“In a dance you have a man and a woman. A man dancing well and a woman dancing less good. That’s what, I in the book, call the dance situation. It may also be a woman who dances well and a man who may not yet have the basic steps in place from the dance school. That’s what I, in the book, call the situation dance. If both the man and the woman are dancing well, we have the dance dance. And, conversely, if both dance badly, we have the situation situation. It’s only in the book I’m interested in the situation situation. In other respects, it doesn’t interest me much. But back then a lot of interest was aroused in me because my publisher said you know what, put everything you’re working on regarding dance situations, situation dances and everything else aside and write about the situation situation. Readers need something to think about. Personally the situation situation reminds me of reality. That way, you can give the reader the reality and we can both get a nice paycheck every month for many many years.”
