The collection of poetry Off the Peg presumably reflects the inner monologues which Pegs Apra, the author, has with himself in his tired head.
What do you talk about when talking with yourself?
“Pegs. Completely ordinary clothes-pegs. But it’s mostly because I’m called Pegs myself. I do not have to talk so much with myself. The rest is taken care of by the subconscious mind.”
Can I see your subconscious mind this moment?
“Yes. If I turn it around, you can see the little green door here? That’s the entrance. It is a quite ordinary subconscious mind. You thought that the subconscious mind is just an ordinary ruminant?”
